Oakhurst celebrates Mountain Heritage Days

Mountain history celebrated at annual Mountain Heritage Days
Oakhurst, CA. –  Locals and residents alike will be celebrating the rich history of Oakhurst and the surrounding area the annual Mountain Heritage Days this weekend.
Oakhurst, which will be celebrating their centennial, next year, has a slew of events planned including races, parades and tours of the Fresno Flats historic park.
In addition to modern day fun, the mountain community was once known as Fresno Flats, will be showcasing what life was like during the turn of the century as blacksmiths, woodcarvers and more will showcase their craft during the events.
A full schedule of events includes:

Friday, September  16
4 – 6 pm Children’s Activities
5 pm Hotdogs and chips and soda only $5
6:30-7:30 pm Square dancers

Saturday, September 17
10 am vendors and arts and crafts
10 - 11 am – Parade
11 am – Silent Auction
12 – 3 pm Children’s Art Activities
12: 30 – 2:30 pm Cake walk each half hour
1 pm – Sluice Box Derby
1:30 pm - Cow Race
2 pm – Parade Awards
4 pm  - Silent Auction Closes
4 – 5:30 pm Wine and Cheese Recption with Chambermaid Singers
5:30 pm -  Barbecue Dinner with live music
6:30 pm – Door prize awarded
